Meet the Pros

Andrés Villegas
Andrés has worked in wine for twenty years. After studying at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and earning WSET Level 3, he became sommelier at Montreal’s Kaizen, inspired by Chef Antonio Park. During that time, he dreamed of launching his own import company in Colombia—realized in 2012 with the creation of KAVA Selection. Its portfolio featured icons like Champagne Salon, Ridge Vineyards, Alain Graillot, and Occhipinti, the first natural wine in Colombia. In 2017, Andrés moved to Vancouver and soon passed the Court of Master Sommeliers’ Advanced exam. He went on to compete in international competitions, representing Colombia at the 2019 ASI “Best Sommelier of the World” in Antwerp. His next chapter became KAVA Selection BC.

Brock Guthrie
Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Brock moved to Vancouver in 2005 and quickly made the city his home. After leaving the corporate world to pursue his passion for wine, he founded Boutique Wines, where for the past 10 years he has overseen wine sourcing and sales. Brock holds the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines with Distinction and has developed an extensive knowledge of the world’s leading wine regions, producers and styles. His education extends well beyond the classroom: he has travelled throughout many of the world’s most celebrated wine regions, visiting vineyards, meeting winemakers and tasting wines at their source. These experiences have given him a deep understanding of the people, places and traditions behind every bottle.

Dave Henderson
Dave first started working in the liquor industry in 2001 while working towards a degree in French History from the University of Calgary. After completing a Master’s in History from the University of Toronto, he made the permanent move to a career in wine sales, first in retail and subsequently in the importing side. After almost a decade in Calgary at the cellar, Dave moved to Vancouver in 2012 and quickly joined crush imports. He has completed the Advanced WSET certificate and has travelled to wine regions in Nova Scotia, BC, Washington, Oregon, California, Australia, France, South Africa, Germany, and Italy. He loves Chardonnay almost unconditionally, and when not working loves complaining about the Blue Jays and the Oilers and eating veggie tacos.
