Event Description
What makes sake, shochu, and umeshu so different? Come taste your way through Japan and find out!
In this fun, interactive tasting seminar, we'll uncover the secrets behind three of Japan's most iconic drinks. Discover how sake transforms rice through the magic of brewing, how shochu captures the character of ingredients like sweet potato through distillation, and how umeshu develops its signature sweet-tart flavor through the slow infusion of Japanese ume fruit.
Along the way, you'll taste six unique expressions and uncover the craftsmanship behind each one. Try IMA for Oysters, a sake specially crafted to pair with oysters, and Kioke-Jikomi Junmai Daiginjo, matured in a traditional kioke wooden barrel that lends the sake a delicate hint of Japanese cedar. Compare two styles of sweet potato shochu with Kuro Kirishima and Aka Kirishima, then explore the world of umeshu through CHOYA 23 and CHOYA Uji Green Tea.
Brewed, distilled, or infused — which will be your favorite? Join us to sip, compare, and discover a whole new side of Japanese liquor!
