After completing a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Victoria, Elaine moved to Vancouver for her first career as a Cancer Researcher. City living exposed Elaine into its available wine culture which quickly turned a passing interest into a passion. With new-found conviction, Elaine returned to school and earned a Graduate degree in Oenology at the prestigious University of Adelaide in Australia. It was an immersive, hands-on experience that continues to inform her winemaking approach today. Elaine is now helming Red Rooster’s tradition of handcrafting high quality yet approachable wines on the Naramata Bench. She takes a thoughtful and evocative approach to winemaking to ensure each wine is expressive of its grape variety and origin, using a balance of science and artistry.
