Evan Saunders

The perfect blend of Prairie charm and enological wit, Evan joined the congregation in 2014. After completing a degree in microbiology from the University of Victoria, Evan moved to Ontario to study Grape and Wine Technology at Brock University. Applying his scientific background with wine was a perfect pairing. Returning to BC, Evan spent three years learning the art of Bordeaux-style red wines at Osoyoos Larose Estate Winery and traveled to Sonoma for a Pinot noir harvest at Kosta Browne in Sebastopol, CA. Evan moved into the role of winemaker at Blasted Church Vineyards in 2017 and has continued to drive the quality of the wines forward. Along with vineyard manager John Bayley, who has spearheaded the renaissance in our estate vineyards starting in 2017, the team at Blasted Church has been increasingly focussed on making estate wines which are true to our site on the Skaha Bench.
